Can Upper Cervical Chiropractic Lower Blood Pressure?

This is also an important etiological indicator of balance in your autonomic nervous system.

This difference has been noted to be a better predictor of cardiovascular disease then systolic (the high number) alone. An increase in pulse pressure of 10mm Hg increased the risk of cardiovascular disease by 20%!

If the pulse pressure is large it may indicate a problem with the left ventricle and arterial stiffness. If it is too small it can be a sign of heart failure. While other studies have indicated improvements in blood pressure following Chiropractic care this was one of the first to show the effect on pulse pressure with Upper Cervical Chiropractic.
The results showed a statistically significant change with an average of 9.9mm Hg improvement! This was based on 12 appointments to see a Upper Cervical Chiropractor.
The reason for this is the effect the Chiropractic adjustment had on the brain stem and control centres for blood vessel elasticity and blood pressure, which are contained in the upper neck in the spine. If there is pressure in this area the body can’t do its job properly, but when restored the body can attain a better autonomic balance.
