When choosing ANYTHING in our lives we are bombarded with choices, such as how to choose a Chiropractor. Thanks to the internet we have an excess of knowledge and options, so much so that it can become daunting and overwhelming! This can be the same when trying to choose a Singapore chiropractic centre; there are so many types, different techniques and various specialities. This article will help GUIDE you to the perfect choice for you and your family. Find out more about us here.
Location, location, location
It may sound simple, but location plays a big part of finding the right Chiropractic Doctor for you. Typically you’ll need to visit the Chiropractor several times per week for weeks or months when you start care (dependent on your case), so if they’re an hour travel this may become difficult.
Generally the best options are to find somewhere that is close to home or close to where you work to be more convenient.
If there is a specific Chiropractic Doctor you wish to see (due to their expertise) then make sure you can set enough time per week to visit them. Alternatively contact us at Vitality Chiropractic Centres and we will do our best to find someone in an area that is appropriate for you at the best pricing.
Top tip: try to pick somewhere closer to home rather than to work. This makes it easier to bring in your family so they can understand what you’re going through and for them to get checked too. Plus nobody wants to hang around after work finishes!
Speciality
All Chiropractic Doctors are trained to deal with a range of age groups, body types and complaints; however after graduating some decide to focus more on a particular niche to become experts in their field. Some may work more generally, but others may further their studies to become more proficient in particular cases, such as:
- Headaches and migraines
- Babies and children
- Upper cervical care
- Effects of stress
- Improving immunity
- Disc issues
- Pregnancy
- Sports
- Scoliosis
While any qualified Chiropractor may be able to help, you may get better results with somebody who has extensive knowledge that relates to the problem you or your loved ones are experiencing.
Top tip: try to find someone that specialises in YOUR problem to achieve your goals faster! Ask how they can help to improve your family’s health too.

Price
This can be a big one! Chiropractic care is covered by most insurance plans but some may have a cap or only pay a percentage. Some clinics may also not accept insurance, so it’s always important to contact them first. It is advisable to pay less attention to the cost for a consultation and the cost per visit, but INSTEAD take note of how many sessions they typically see patients for similar cases.
For example: if they charge $200 for consultation, $100 per session and require 20 sessions of initial care the total comes to $2200. However, if another clinic charges $38 for a consultation, $60 per session and requires 50 sessions of initial care the total comes to $3038!
If the care is cheaper but takes longer to improve then this ends up costing you more time and could cost you MORE MONEY!
You must also take into account the reputation and proficiency of the Chiropractor (such as via reviews or recommendations), as this could be more important than the price. Health is something precious that you must take care of so that you can continue working, spend time with your family and do the things you love in life.
Remember that your health is an INVESTMENT, not an expense. Comparatively, medical care is far more expensive (think about your last GP or dental visit!), but you know it’s worth it for the good of you and your family.
Top tip: focus on finding the clinic that is best suited and specialised to handle YOUR CASE. By doing this you will get results faster, ultimately saving you time and money!
Qualifications
Ensure that the Chiropractor is properly qualified from a certified institution and has valid current accreditation with a Chiropractic board. It is not a requirement for them to be a member of The Chiropractic Association Singapore, but check if they are certified in the country where they qualified.
Top Tip: ask the Chiropractor or his staff about any extra post-graduate qualifications they may have, such as working with specific conditions or age ranges (like headaches or with babies).
Tests
When visiting any health professional it is normal to have an initial consultation, physical tests and then potentially further testing to assess your case. Make sure your Chiropractor asks LOTS of questions about you and your case; including details of any symptoms, activities this is affecting, past medical history, any accidents or hospitalisations, previous tests taken, any medications, time off work, effects on sleep and family life, diet, stress, activities which may be contributing to your problem…..and much more!
They should then conduct a thorough physical examination to check your condition AND overall health, using physical tests and objective tests (such as HRV or Thermography). At this point it is usually necessary to take an X-ray.
This may seem daunting, but the radiation is the same as a flight to Bali, and it is VITAL to make sure they can accurately diagnose the complaint and is safe for them to adjust you.
Once all this information is collected they should have another appointment where they explain the findings of your case, explain how it happened and what they will do to help.
Top tip: ask about the tests they do as protocol for every new patient. Find a Chiropractor that is very thorough in their testing.
Who is the Chiropractor?
Finding somebody that you get along with can make a BIG difference to how fast you recover, especially when looking at long term outcomes for your health. Ensure to find an upper cervical chiropractic care specialist that you feel comfortable with and trust to support you and your family.
Make sure they are knowledgeable about your case, giving you lots of information about WHY this started, HOW they will help and WHAT to do in the future to prevent re-occurrences.
Top tip: ask yourself these 3 questions: Is this someone I want to come back to see? Is this someone I want my family to see? Is this someone I will recommend to other family members and friends?
