Is it possible to Manage Anxiety with Upper Cervical Chiropractic care at reasonable rates? Anxiety disorders are growing more common, becoming the most common form of mental illness. In America, 18% of adults suffer from anxiety problems, with patients spending over $22 billion per year attempting to help for these conditions. Read on to find out report from a recent study about how Upper Cervical care can provide more natural and cost effective relief.
Case Studies Involving Anxiety
A study by Lauren Roth (Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care as a Complementary Strategy for Depression and Anxiety: A Prospective Case Series Analysis) demonstrated improvements in measured anxiety in patients.
In this study they followed the results of upper cervical care for 6 patients over the course of 12 weeks of Upper Cervical Chiropractic adjustments. Each patient had been suffering from mild to moderate anxiety, based on the results of the GAD-7 (general anxiety disorder 7) scale (0-21). They also used a PHQ-9 (patient history questionnaire) score (0-27) to assess the effects of health on day-to-day living. All patients were also suffering from a Subluxation.
5 of the 6 candidates completed the 12 weeks of care, with ALL 5 seeing improvements in scores on both the GAD-7 and PHQ-9.
4 of the 5 who completed the 12 weeks of care were satisfied with the results of the Upper Cervical care and said they would recommend Upper Cervical Chiropractic to people suffering from anxiety. They also noted less muscle tension, more mental clarity, and a greater amount of energy. Read more ways to Treat Naturally.
Upper Cervical Care to Manage Anxiety
Upper Cervical Chiropractic can have benefits for those who are experiencing anxiety disorders. This can be due to the improvement in the organisation of the nervous system, resulting in a body that is more comfortable (hence able to deal through the psychological issues) and a mind that works more efficiently due to reduced nerve interference.
This is not to suggest that Chiropractic is a magical cure to anxiety, but that it can be useful as part of a multi-faceted approach to mental health issues. When a person wants to improve cardiovascular health it is important to change diet, exercise, stress patterns sleep patterns etc. to have the best results.
The same is for mental health disorders, by reducing the nerve interference present in the Upper Cervical spine this can allow the brain less confusion so as to deal with the personal issues more efficiently. While it is rare, I have seen some cases where the correction of the Subluxation has large effects on mood, particularly in children. In these cases they have radical changes in short periods of time. It is easy to discount this as something that could only affect children due to their immaturity and adolescence, however these changes can be present in adults. Similar to how a cold can affect your mood, a Subluxation could also have this deteriorating effect. The best option would be to get a check-up to determine if Subluxation is present and then to treat it accordingly as part of a healthy lifestyle.
