Chiropractic is a well-known healthcare profession that focuses on diagnosing and helping with musculoskeletal system disorders, particularly those affecting the spine. It is a popular alternative or complementary approach to traditional medicine, offering a drug-free and non-invasive way to promote overall health and wellness. But what about chiropractic in Singapore? Is it actually chiropractic, and what can you expect from chiropractic care in the Lion City?
This article is aimed to help clear up what Chiropractic is and what Chiropractic isn’t, since there seems to be some questions for the public.
It can be confusing what the purpose of upper cervical chiropractic is, especially with many different practitioners using different explanations, different tests and sometimes even different techniques.
The goal of Chiropractic is to correct mis-alignments in the spine, which are having a negative effect on the nervous system, especially at the top of the neck which we call the Upper Cervical spine (the top bones C1 and C2, learn more about Upper Cervical here).
Chiropractic adjustments are used to correct misalignments and should be the main technique for any practitioner. Some Singapore Chiropractors may use other types of techniques such as massage, stretching or exercises.
While these techniques can be useful for certain conditions, they do NOT correct misalignments and are not part of Chiropractic.
It’s kind of the equivalent of my dentist giving me advice about my blood pressure, they work in a similar field and are very knowledgeable, however it isn’t their speciality and it would be better to stick to teeth.
At Vitality Chiropractic we focus only on correcting misalignments in the upper neck, helping to take pressure off of the brain-stem, so that your body can heal and stay healthy for the future (Watch our patients Recovery Story here).
We don’t need to use any painful massage techniques or long stretches or exercises to help our patients achieve a solution to their problem. Our patients, spasming muscles are able to relax naturally once the spine is properly aligned and the nervous system is working optimally.
